The Toyotomi Hideyoshi Katana has a blade made from forged high carbon steel with a Bo-Hi. The blade of this sword was differential hardened by the tradional clay tempering method. It can be seen by means of the hamon which is a beautiful wave pattern from habaki to kissaki. Due to this fact the back of the blade has got a hardness of 40 HRC much softer and more flexible than the edge of the blade. The edge is extremely sharp and has a hardness of 60 HRC. With this katana we can also offer two Tsuba options. You can choose between the Musashi-Tsuba (named after the famous samurai) or the Hayashi-Tsuba (wood design). In memory of the famous ruler of Japan, Toyotomi Hideyoshi, this katana shares his name.

Toyotomi Hideyoshi (1536 - 1598) is said to be one of the most considerable sovereigns of Japan. Born as the son of a common farmer, five decades later he gained the power as a Kampaku over Japan by using martial skills, wisdom and bravery. On the battlefield he could easily be recognized by the impressive antlers of a stag which he wore on his helmet. Although Toyotomi Hideyoshi was not successful trying to unite Japan, which was mainly caused by the failed Korea campaigns and the disapproval of the Daimyos, he is still rated as one of the most essential preparers of the unification of Japan. His work was finally finished by Tokugawa Ieyasu.
