Venetian Cinquedea with scabbard
The Cinquedea is a late medieval and renaissance short sword (respectively long dagger) with an extra ordinary broad blade.
It was developed in northern Italy and mainly used by (surely rich) civilians. The name means Five fingers and most probably refers to the width of the blade which is about one hand (=five fingers) wide.
Our replica originates from a sword in Venice. The handle is made of bone material which is fixed to the steel tang with decorative brass rivets. The blade has got a distinctive midrib.
The sword will be delivered with a leather covered wooden scabbard with brass fittings.
Details:
- Total length: approx. 73 cm
- Blade length: approx. 55 cm
- Max. width of blade: approx. 10 cm
- Weight without scabbard: approx. 1.6 kg
- Including matching scabbard from wood, leather and brass
