Imperial Roman Legionary Scutum

Reconstruction of an ancient Roman shield, so-called Scutum, as carried by the legionaries during the Roman imperial period.

This shield is made of wood, with steel boss (so-called Umbo) and hand-painted linen cover on the front side.
It is reinforced with thin wooden slats on the back.
The carrying handle is lodged behind the boss.

The shield is delivered with unmounted umbo. The boss can however be fastened easily by the customer using the eight supplied assembly screws with decorative heads.
